FOR dlh2457: Just came across your post to another person's dilemma. I found this Baby Lock BL4 428 serger at a thrift store. It powers on but I know nothing about its use.

I don't want to spend $14 plus for an owner's manual and find out this machine does not function properly or possibly damage it by improperly threading it or having it out of adjustment. I'm in need of an owner's manual for a Baby Lock BL4 428.

I have the Janome 6600 P. Beginning a seam the thread knotted and the machine made noise and needle would not move either up or down.

I manually moved the needle using the handwheel and cut away the knotted thread. I began sewing again but instead of starting at the edge began about a half inch down, forward stitched, reversed to lock threads and problem repeated and received the message to 'Stop for safety purposes'. Referred to the manual, tried manual recommendation. Did not work. I got a vacumn from a friend who ungraded and though i used at her home when i got it home it would not turn on when plugged in and i check everything and no use. My friend lost her manual. Im in my 60's and on a disability fixed income so cant afford to take to repair but got lots of men at church who would help if they know how to trouble shoot it.
