I have a ADVC-100 and am trying to find a good capture program where I can use start/stop timers. I found Scenalyzer Live and love using it, however when I am capturing I will get this message eventually: 'Sclive stopped capturing because the hard disk is full' This message pops up and the capture stops even though I have 50+ GB free. And the worst part is if I don't stop capturing before this message, the file gets corrupt. Has anyone ever seen a similar problem to this? Also, my friend let me try his Adobe Premiere 6.5 and it appears to capture very well, but is there any way to set a stop timer in it?

My new, fast computer is anxious to go to work - and so am I - to convert camcorder video to DVD. But it's a complex and time-consuming process and I want to do it right the first time.

There are so many options available and it's not so easy to decide which are best by just reading the specs and the vendor's 'brag sheets'. Several programs, like Ulead VideoStudio 7, will do the entire job, from capturing the video from the camcorder to burning the DVD.

But are they necessarily the best programs for each of these functions - video capture, video editing, effects, DVD authoring, DVD burning, etc. It IS handy to stay with one program that will do the entire project, but I am beginning to lean towards the concept that programs that focus more on the specific functions might just do a better job at that function. I'm certainly willing to give up some convenience in exchange for higher quality. Someone on this forum mentioned Scenalyzer as THE best program to capture video from a camcorder or video capture card or module. See: I downloaded the trial and tried it. I like the way it creates, and writes to disk, a separate file for each scene on the camcorder tape, and the way it names these files. So I can just turn on the capture and let it run, and when done, I have these files neatly created and named in a folder.

It has a variety of capture settings - I used the recommended AVI output. I captured some scenes, then used Ulead DVD MovieFactory to author and burn to DVD and the output does look good. The cost is US $39.00, which is maybe high for a product that only does video capture, but I'm willing to pay that if I'm confident it will do the best capture possible. Asplundh All future updates are free after the initial purchase. So are any of you using this product?

Would you recommend it as the BEST product to use in capturing video? If not, then what product DO you recommend, and why? (video capture, only, at this point).

I bought Scenalyzer when this functionality was not available in my Editing program. It still is my only capturing program for 2 reasons: • it is sooo simple, stable and handy • I only recently upgraded my NLE and can't be bothered to check out it's capturing capabilities Besides capturing I also use Scenalyzer to write my ready dv-videos back to tape. Your milage my vary but I love to have one dedicated program for capturing that is stable and simple with all the features that I need (splitting scenes mainly).
