PARENT COMMITMENT Students whose parents invest time in helping them to prepare are the ones most likely to succeed at PSIA. For students who compete as part of our school team, we require that one parent per household fulfill a volunteer shift on the day of the PSIA meet. Volunteers serve as graders, assistant directors for contests, and general helpers to make the day go smoothly for all involved.

Events will run in individual classrooms throughout the school during the day, with awards given in individual classrooms instead of at one ceremony. PSIA also offers scholarships to eighth graders who have participated in their events for successive years and were awarded gold medals at the state level in one or more events. Thank you also to the parents who not only chaired sessions that day, but listened to recitations and prepared your children in other ways for the event. Due to everyone’s fantastic efforts, 23 of our students earned a 3rd place or higher distinction in their areas, and 15 of our were eligible to compete at the state level! STCS came in third overall among all of the schools competing. Theresa’s students competed for the second time in 2018 at the state level for the Private Schools Interscholastic Association meet. We fielded a team of fourteen students competing in 19 contests, and enjoyed much camaraderie and success at the meet at Texas Christian University. All students who earned a spot on our State PSIA team should take pride in their academic achievement through diligent preparation.
