Who’d a thunk it. If you've ever used it before, there are some new features with this one.
Before, after 90 days your plants would die, telling you to buy the REAL version so they wouldn't; now, it's freeware, so you can let them grow until its time for harvesting. Other new features include different soils, a wide variety of different sized pots, a nice selection of lamp reflectors (shades), and different light bulb sizes/types (like metal halide or high-pressure sodium). You can also have more than one grow room; before, you could only have three plants, but now you can have nine plants in three different rooms. I've read you can have up to thirty rooms, but I think you might have to pay for the extra ones.not sure though. There is also a feature where you can automatically water and feed it, while you're away on vacation.
Oh, and you can set your own mp3's to play in the background, if you don't want to listen to the cheesy electronic dub music. I haven't figured out how to do that yet though.

For the uninitiated, the basic premise is, of course, to grow your make-believe marijuana to beautiful potent buds. This is very much a simulation game; it will take a few months for your plants to grow enough to harvest, and that is if you water it well, and you don't over feed it. You can adjust pretty much everything you think you should be able to adjust, like the light cycle and height. There are a wide variety of different seed to chose from, and all your favorites are there.
You can also crossbreed your plants, if you happen to have a male and a female in the same room, and create hybrid seeds to plant later. You may not be able to smoke it when you harvest, but hey, we all can't set up a grow op. In our basement and enjoy the fine art of growing cannabis. Yeah I know, it's a little pathetic to be growing virtual marijuana, but hey, I was already pretty pathetic:goof.

Make sure HighGrow is completely closed before editing any files. This is where you may get lost if hex values confuse you. At the very least you'll need to learn how to get around in whatever hex editor you're using. The plant files are numbered in the order you planted them and the first 40 bytes of the file will give you the name of the plant (when converted to text). The forty-first byte (offset of 40 when numbering begins at 0 as most hex editors do) is the day the seed was planted, the following byte is the month and the one after that is the year minus 1900 (i.e. 2012 is stored as a decimal value of 112 [2012 - 1900] or hex value of 70).
