How can I perform a clean install after the Windows 10 upgrade? Windows 10 automatically activates online when you upgrade your product to Windows 10. This allows you to reinstall Windows 10 again at any time, without having to purchase a license. This is a guide about recovery disks for Acer computers for the following versions of Windows: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. A recovery disk is also known as a restore disc, repair disc, boot disc or rescue disk.

If you boot off the Win8 upgrade disk, there is an option somewhere to partition and format your drive. It might take a little digging, but you'll find it.

Also when given two options on how to install Windows 8 (I believe they're called Upgrade and Custom), Custom doesn't delete anything even though it says it does; it moves your current Windows files to Windows.old. So don't select that option thinking it will delete everything; it won't.

If you have trouble booting off of the dvd, press F12 while turning on the tablet and you'll have a choice of what to boot from. If that doesn't work, hold down the Windows button and volume up key simultaneously, and press the power button; immediately press the escape key when you see a cursor on screen. The Acer manual is not very readable, but read the manual. When I tried to upgrade on my w500, I only had 10gb, so I created a bootable usb flash drive and installed off of that.

I had to change to boot order in the BIOS (which I had trouble to get to, but I was able to follow the same instructions as stated by Area52. My Win8 Pro works OK, but as many have already stated in the other threads, the auto rotate doesn't work. I even tried the AMD driver install as was suggested, but no luck. I wonder if you are having the same problem.

I also moved the Window.old folder to an external drive for back up so that my SSD has some room in it for other things. Finally, I tried downloading all the various drivers and applications off of Acer.com hoping it will resolve the auto rotation, but no luck. So, if any one has come up with a solution, please advise.

When throwing out a computer or giving it to someone else it is important to prepare it properly so that your data is not accessible to another person and so that the computer remains usable. Windows 8 provides a new feature that makes this process incredibly easy by erasing your data, reformatting your hard drive, and reinstalling Windows 8 at the press of a button.

This new feature will allow you to erase your data by overwriting it numerous times with random patterns that make it very hard to recover any information off of your hard drive. Once the data is removed, it will format your hard drive and install Windows 8 onto it. When the process is finished, you will be left with a computer that is set to how it was when Windows was first installed. The best part about it is that all of these steps are done without any interaction by you once you get the process started. Please remember, though, that unlike, this feature does not save your data. Therefore it is imperative that you backup and store your data in a safe location as once you start this process your data will be lost forever. How to remove all of your data and reinstall Windows 8 Before you begin the process of deleting your data and reinstalling Windows 8, please make sure these conditions are met: • You have backed up and saved your data to a safe location.

• You are logged in as a user that has administrative permissions. • No one else is logged into the computer. Then go to the Windows 8 Start Screen and type Reinstall. When the search results appear click on the Settings category as shown below. Now click on the option labeled Remove everything and reinstall Windows, which will start the Reset process.
